Our Friend Julie A shy little smile and hair tied in plaits Skinny legs and a short pinafore An ex Yorkshire lass, new to the class This was the Julie we saw Funny and smart, good at French, maths, and art But reluctant for double P.E. Not very sporty and a little bit naughty This was Julie, Year 3 A bright patchwork jacket and red velvet loons Worn with a whiff of patchouli With her long wavy hair and that warm brown-eyed stare This was the teenager Julie Training to teach down in Brighton She'd got Education all sewn up Confident, clever, she made friends forever This was Julie the grown up As a mummy of three, we all could see That motherhood was her vocation With Gotty, they both, nurtured their growth With lots of love and dedication Transforming a barn down in Suffolk And taming a garden unruly Her mission and vision all came to fruition This was the creative Julie And through these last years, she's faced all her fears With courage and grace, and so truly We will never forget the friend that we met Sleep peacefully now lovely Julie x (Jennie, Jill, Penny, Allie, Gill and Suzanne)
